Passing on the news...

http://moxys.it-enquirer.com/main/macos/more/compactflash/ (external link)

"What this teaches us is that if performance is absolutely crucial to you --for example, if you own a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III, a Sony Alpha 700, or a Nikon D300-- then Lexar is absolutely the best buy. If you can do with a little less performance, Verbatim may be your best buy. SanDisk is currently overpriced --we will have to wait and see what the Ducati turns in in terms of raw speed."

That seems to be less than a proper review...no actual test data, just a talking head throwing some opinions out.

I think I'll stick to Sandisk, here they generally seem to be cheaper than Lexar here anyway, and in my personal experience are much more reliable. Cards are one of those things that even though it may seem silly I prefer to stick with something I feel I can trust.

Agreed... Hardly a proper "review" as there's no data.

I use SanDisk myself. *shrug*

Yep I agree. I will do the same... LEXAR sucks... :D

No seriously, I refuse to use something that has a history of not working so well with cameras.

So a horrible article with nothing backing it up and we're supposed to believe it? -?

K, you use your Lexars
I'll keep buying Sandisk.

I had a Lexar Firewire CF Reader that worked rather well over the years, though I don't buy their cards... I've bought nothing but SanDisk and been happy.

There have been other reviews over the last couple of years that do go into (sometimes excrutiating) detail and the winner has always been a SanDisk card and reader combo providing the fastest results, FWIW.

A few years back when the RG database was still fully operational and the MkII was top dog, the Sandisk cards consistently out performed the Lexars.

At that time, Lexar and Noink were tooting there "Write Acceleration" (WA) technology, as the fastest combo,
Since Canon cameras did not support this dubious tech, Lexar was not going to be any faster in a Canon.
The joke was that again the real world tests on the RG database showed that the latest Sandisk cards consistently outperformed the WA Lexar's in NOINK cameras too!

Thus illustrating that "WA" was only a marketing ploy, and had absolutely no impact on actual speed.

Today I don't know, the RG database is out of date, but the numbers we do see show the historic Sandisk lead for the MkIIn

Great, now you guys tell me. I recently purchased a UDMA Lexar 8gb, looking for the fastest speed possible for the 1DsMKIII which is quite snail-like when it comes to displaying the just shot picture to the lcd. I've always been a Sandisk user, most recently only buying their Extreme IV cards. And it's only now that they label those UDMA also. The Lexar is a fine card though and I have no complaints about it.

btw: It didn't improve the display speed one iota and that was a deal breaker for me on the 1DsMKIII. I would say almost a full two seconds from shutter click to display on the lcd. I hate to wait.
