There is a comparison of this lens with the 18-55 Kit lens and liked what I have seen!! But.. lets face it the 18-55 is not real sharp!! Can someone post a non-edited comparison of this lens against the Canon 50 f1.8 so I can compare sharpness!! I know a lot of us have the nifty fifty and know how sharp it is!!

Thanks!!

There was a article I read a week ago comparing the Tamron 28-70 to the Canon 17-40L complete with test chart photos. The Tamron blew the Canon away in optical quality. It was amazing.

If I can find that article again I will post it.

I've been wanting this lens lately - thanks to all the talk around here probably!

But now everyone's saying that it's sharper than the 17-40 - now I REALLY want it.

My wife's going to be very upset with all of you.... :D

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

I would not say it is sharper than the 17-40L. I have sold the 17-40L now and use a 16-35, but I have the 28-75 and although it is a great lens (provided you get a good copy) I don't think its as good as the 17-40 is.

As for the 50/1.8 I cannot compare as I only have the 50/1.4 (not a fair comparison really).

In the persuit of total contentment, Canon does not help :)
