I am sitting in my office today. I have a bookshelf that easily has 25 cameras (new and old) on it. I probably have another 20 or so around the house. I've been taking pictures for the 15 years we've been together and for many more before this.

So I am waiting for my wife to get ready so we can go visit a relative's newborn.

She walks in an says, "Do you have a camera so we can take get a few shots of the baby?"

I turned and looked at her and say. "No, but I think we can stop by the Camera Store on the way and get one."

We both laughed, I grabbed one and we left.

-sorry if you don't find this funny but I am still getting a laugh out of it.

Wives are good for questions of the obvious.. e.g. "Do these pants make my butt look big?"

that's a loaded question, cuz when u say NO, then she says "so u r saying my butt looks big in my other pants?"

Jealous, don't be...most are 35mm cameras (Nikon/Minolta) from many years ago. Then there are older rangefinders, Brownies (decoration) and a few medium formats. I very rarely use any of them unless I REALLY want to develop B&W film (which I can't tell you the last time I've wanted to).

I shoot with 3 cameras 99% of the time 40D/G9/S70. The rest are just fun/decoration and I don't need to sell them.

If you don't want laid that night:

"No, it's your butt that makes your butt look big. Levi Strauss was a tradesman, not a magician."

If you DO want laid that night:

"No, your ass looks finer than the best Chablis in anything but I prefer to see it in nothing. Speaking of Chablis, what do you say we get a bottle for this evening? You and me, fireside."

My husband knows to say, "You look great!" I give him a dirty stare and he says, "What? You wanted the truth?"

People know if I'm attending I have my 5D and 24-70 on me. They don't bother bringing their P&S anymore. I feel like I'm a hired gun, but it's okay. I just wish people were less insecure. Just because I have $3K worth of gear in my bag doesn't mean their $150 camera isn't worth taking. Sometimes their pictures are better. Okay, I lie, mine are always better. :)

Precisely why I don't bring my camera anymore unless I really am the hired gun. I don't want to be "but we're family"d into obligation. It always sucks.
