Brother got an SX 100 IS

What a great little camera!!! Basically does everything that my S3 IS does, only faster.

This thing take great pics, and manual mode is super easy with the wheel on the back (that strongly resembles the SLR big brothers)...

Literally, my only gripe with this camera is that it has no view finder. That's all though. Very much worth the $269 he paid for it...

Not having the viewfinder's all it would take for me to not want the camera. With only the LCD screen, you're just guessing when in the bright sun.

Yeah- I always use my viewfinder, but he's a very casual user... this won't be a problem for him, but as with you, would veto it for me.

It does take some great shots though and for a casual user, I am not sure you could do much better... great features in a small package...

This is his brother, he told me I could learn a lot from registering here so figured i would. Yeah, this camera is about perfect for me, in all honesty I don't see myself ever using a viewfinder so this one works for me. Actually even in bright light I can still see the screen quite well.

So far I am extremely happy with the camera, due to gift cards and store credit I ended up getting the Camera, memory card, and rechargeable batteries for 186 dollars and change. Will post some pictures I got with it eventually

+1 here. The lack of a viewfinder has been refreshing rather than problematic. Kind of nice that I don't need to press the camera to my face to compose a shot. The grid that can be turned on is a feature I have grown to like too.

Rather than include a viewfinder on future models (plenty of cameras on the market with those things already for those that feel the need ), I'd rather they think about adding an LCD that swings out and rotates if it doesn't add too much to the cost (this camera hits a sweet pricepoint). This seems like it would be much more useful than a VF.

Making two models (one with a swinging/rotating LCD and one without) would be even better. Great way to expand this new SXxxx series. JHMO.

Take some time to read the manual and learn what all the various features can do for you and how to use them. This thing has quite a few features that beg for exploration in order to get the most from it.

Yeah- my S3 IS has the swinging view finder... it's awesome for when you are..

1. Trying to take handhelds of yourself with your significant other
2. Using a tripod
3. Trying to take a picture from ground level...

If they did this it just might make the SX series even better! Good idea!

LOL! If you're short like me, the vari-angle VF is used most to take pictures holding the camera above your head!
