Long John Silvers calls it fish and chips because they have a bottle of malt vinegar on the condiment tray....

yeah, me too...5 years ago I lost 50lbs. and it's taken 5 years but I've managed to find it all again.

Yeah, I did that once about 12 years ago. This time Prednisone helped me gain a significant amount of weight and I was feeling awful. I am not a "little" person anyways and not striving to be. Just get healthier and boy am I able to move around a lot better!!

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

here's a shot of Mike from Sat. He was ever so patiently scoping out his shot.

QUOTED IMAGE

What is it with you people and lens hoods?

HEY! Hi :)

and yum on bfast...I just realized I haven't had champagne in 20+ years...

Not even at Little's wedding? For shame!

there's a couple of places on the coast that make real fish and chips (fish from the boats and they make their own...) quite good. Where we are now, I don't know of one place locally that makes good stuff.

and Wuudles, I HAVE NO IDEA what I'm waiting for

Trouble is Dan and Jennifer are about 8 hr. drive from the coast.

When you visit Seattle, and I know you will -- check out Spud's on Alki or at Green Lake. Sunfish is another pretty popular spot.

Yeah. Last time we were in Seattle/Victoria/Port Townsend the joke was "What are you having, Jon?" "I think I'll have the . . . , no, I'll have the fish & chips." Did the same in Nova Scotia; just don't order fish at the Best Western Claymore in Antigonish though! Best batch was out of an old converted school bus on Bras d'or Lake in Baddeck.

I didn't comment...on the lens hoods...there seems to be a whole segment of the population with an aversion to them...

Funny thing about being this far from the coast...we aren't missing anything...the Carolina coast has no fish and chips places...you can get some great shrimp...but that is about it.

I was further from the ocean when I lived in NY...and yet there was a little family joint just around the corner from my office...that had almost UK good fish and chips...even served them the right way...in a paper wrapper. With a pile of lemons and real malt vinegar.

for me it's simple (re: hoods) they are big, make your lens look more conspicuous and I have yet to see a benefit from using one (except when we are shooting animals close up).

Now I know some down home places on the Outer Banks that you can get great seafood of just about any variety, but you're right there's no fish and chips down east!

Some of the best Mexican food I've had (outside of Mexico) was in Lone Pine, California. The anglo owner/chef of the restaurant told us he had never been in Mexico in his life...
