Thanks, Mo.

There's no way that I would have been able to see their eyes that day had they been facing directly into the sun, so I shot of lot of backlit shots with the flash. Avoided them having to squint, me blowing out their light skin against their dark clothes, and gave me a natural hair light, too.

You should've had one flash up on a stand off to the right, one behind for separation, and a gold reflector for fill. You also should've used a Westcott strip bank to give the eyes a little catchlight as well as a muslin skrim above to diffuse the light. At LEAST that much. C'mon. Don't you ever use all your assistants?

I tend to ramble. Feel free to put me on ignore.

Ugh, I need to clean my LCD monitor. I keep thinking I see sensor gunk and it turns out to be a spot on my monitor.

Photo to share. Fellow forum member here in Brissie, also a member of the club I'm in posed at a recent club Portrait shoot. Has a few hot spots from the sun, but I like it anyway.

WOW! She is pretty! Good job....

As long as we're doing Eagles...

Love them.

Here are a couple more from my trip, as I make my way through the processing of them.

From the base of the flags of the WWII memorial.

Your horizon is off on a few of those.

Downtown Portland. Just off of I-5. Honest.

Umm, right.... LIAR!

speaking of Puddle...this is kind of a PIT shot....I call it

"where's Puddle"

I'll tell you WHY it's a PIT shot when you find him

I see him!

ibdb wrote in post #5164920 (external link)
They'll get used to it. Or you will.

Here's an example of a shot that could have gone very wrong without a flash. My 2 year old playing Guitar Hero with a badminton racket. You can see where the sun was coming from.

Before I read the post I saw the photo and thought "He is playing the guitar!"

You got the terminology right... I recently bought a 42" 5-in-1 reflector --- WOW, that thing is huge!

Umm.... I didn't think the skrim could be left in pants.... something is wrong there!

Mooo - I am back from Portland.
