Camera support and a few small bug fixes :-D.

But thanks for letting everyone know :).

Almost...

From a LR forum I'm on:

Tom Hogarty has announced (external link) the release of Lightroom 1.4. Along with adding more cameras such as the Canon 450D and the Nikon D60, this release also contains printing related bug fixes.
Color noise is now active in Grayscale mode allowing better noise reduction in B&W. Also a new Camera RAW 4.4 profile is available in Camera Calibration, for images with poor response in the extreme ranges of temperature and tint.

NOTE: Export plugins will likely need to be updated after applying the Lightroom update.

So, everyone in my kindergartener's class gets to be the VIP for a week at some point during the year. This week was Ethan's turn. It's really fun to watch the kids be VIPs. I think they all stand up straighter and smile just a little bigger.

This is Ethan, wearing his VIP/Birthday crown.

I can't seem to get him to smile when there's a camera around without him adding some other sort of goofy pose.

Or the Coronado islands South of San Diego.... Talk about a navigational black hole. I actually had to use the sextant to get a nav fix back in the 80's because we had no way of telling how close we were to Mexican waters. By the time we got LORAN back, we found out we were only a 1/4 NM off.

Yeah, I gloated.

We were headed home from Kingston, Ontario...on my friend's parents 28'er. LORAN was working fine when we left...then came the fog....and down went the LORAN...it wasn't too bad...we just had to watch out for Galloo Island...made the whole trip by compass...missed the harbor mouth at Oswego by about 300 yards or so...LORAN came back up as we entered the Seneca River.

I have Mini-Me, Mini-Me Too, and Mini-Me Three. All my wife's friends tell her I must have strong genes.

Most people think the oldest one looks even more like me.

Do you ever use LR to export directly to Zenfolio? That's the sort of thing they're talking about. If not, don't worry about it.

Cute shot David.

Those are the automatic plugins I posted awhile back that send photos directly from LR to smugmug, zenfolio, etc.

I just read this on Jeffrey Friedl's blog (the creator of said plugins).

Yikes, it seems that 1.4 has a bug: the “time taken” is set to midnight in copies of the file that are exported. The Lightroom database and the original files maintain the correct time, but when you export a copy (e.g. to upload somewhere), the time is reset to midnight.
This is most unfortunate. I don't know whether I can work around it in the plugins. Until this is resolved, I'd recommend staying with 1.3 unless the benifits of 1.4 are worth it for you.
Drat.

If you don't know.. you probably don't use one.

Do you use an ftp uploader for smugmug? If not, you probably don't have to worry.

Oh, man. We had OMEGA receiver. Never had to use it though. We were so cutting edge, we had SATNAV. We had a satellite pass overhead about once a week.

OMEGA shut down permanently in 1997. Even though I never used it, I always liked the acronym for Ship's Inertial Navigation System, SINS. It somehow seemed appropriate for a bunch of sailors...

I spent a lot of time navigating by radar... Minesweepers never got very far from land.
