I hate to even ask the question after reviewing the many other threads, but does anyone know where the MkIII stands today? Are the units available now free of the many issues complained of months previously? What I have seen recently seems to suggest that the newer blue dot versions are good and perform really well. I am curious as I am considering obtaining one. Are the units from BH up-to-date?

What is the safe line for serial numbers? For those that have a MkIII, is it "worth" it? I mean, I have a MkIIN and some --D's...most of what I read is that the MkIII is bad-ass quick and pretty good in low light with iso 3200 images that look like 800 or so images from previous models. True?

All my serious shooting is paid weddings where I live in the very high iso, wide aperture slow shutter realm. ISO 800, f2.8 and TV125 is a gift at times!

Thanks for any feedback. I appreciate it!

Blue dots need repair as well. Issue #2 of? Resale hasn't been hit too hard and some are very happy with zero issues.

Others....

I just bought mine on Friday, have no issues to report. It clearly out focuses my 40D in all the situations I have used it in( low light, soccer ). I cant compare it to the Mark II but Im keeping mine for sure!

it stands exactly where it stood two months ago: nobody knows anything and some people are happy while some people are still having issues :)

i don't know about resale there.. price went from about 4k resale to about 3.4. i don't know about you, but a 15% drop is pretty significant in my books.

is it worth it? if you have a mkII, it might not be worth the expense of time to relearn a camera. if you have not had a 1dmkIIn, it is worth every penny. iso3200 does look like 1600 on the mkii, even like iso800 from a d2xs. from what i know, most people with significant problems got them at the beginning of the line, and treat the mkiii as just a mkii rather than an entirely new beast.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

That sums it up nicely.

Seems on par with most bodies that are in stock.

Even so the poll mentioned shows less than 7% off post blue dot's are unhappy. As cosworth mentioned thats par for the course with new bodies.

I have no doubt the pre blue dot had problems :) The big questions is the blue dots and its looking good!

it's not the settings, it's those previous 1 series owners that are the problem ;)

It's hard to say. Certainly the percentage of happy owners has gone up. I'm certainly not happy with Canon or the way this was handled, but I think my body is performing at spec now. I've been using my Leica lately though, so the canon just sits.
