Some pics I took the other day while we were doing an unrep (Underway Replenishment). It was bright as hell out so the pics are a little washed I guess. C&C welcome.

BTW I notice alot of members have a link on their posts that says it is ok to edit thier images. How does one enable that?

Ya since my last ship alot of the terminalogy changed heh. I am currently stationed onboard USS Bainbridge (DDG-96), which is an Arleigh Burke class destroyer. The ship we were refueling with is the USNS Supply (T-AOE 6).

Most of the pictures I have taken since i got my camera have been from my ship, so no, I dont really have any of the ship. Perhaps once we return from deployment I will get some :)

RAS? During the 70s it was unrep. Helo'd supplies were vertrep.

Nice shots OP...brings back a few memories.

I specifically put the hose in that shot because I wanted the context.
Here's one without the hose in the way of the ship...

Most are. The Navy still has some because an oiler command is a traditional stepping stone to an aircraft carrier command.

It's much more cost effective for MSC to run the supply ships. The Rainier is a good example. When it was a Navy ship the crew was around 600, the civilians run it with 175 to 200 personnel.

unsung heroes, civilian or in the service...

no-one gets credit for carrying the gas, but it is a damned important job in the air or on the sea.

A camera and a whole lotta curiosity.
