A guy at work bailed from Canon a couple of years ago, mostly b/c of the UWA zoom from Nikon.

That is why we do not give him a bonus.

Thanks everyone for the replies, sorry about forgetting the Zero option. Agree with the comments about competition be good in the end for the consumer, thinks going in cylices and that most folks have too much invested in lenses to switch.

The folks I know that switched to Nikon are experience sports shooter. The issues seem to mostly with sequencing and high ISO noise. To many soft shots in the middle of a sequence

I shoot with a 1DMIIn and have the same AF issue shooting wake boarding. A rider hitting or just coming off of a kicker/ramp will be shapely in focus and landing will also be fine. But shots in the middle of a board grab or pose (the money shot) are soft and often have background focused. Sorry folk, it is not comment sense or operator error for the focus to go from 25ft to infinity or somewhere and them back to 25ft with in 1 to 2 seconds. I also have too much invested to switch.

PS not saying that I never get those shoot just that I think the number of bads is to high. Have mostly be shooting with 70-200 f2.8 L IS and a backup 70-200 f4 L with & without a monopod, have not see a huge different mixing setup with good light. Did just pickup the 100-400 L shot two baseball game and a day a the ski park but have not edited any of the shots yet

There can't be too many - there aren't any exceptional deals on long Canon lenses in the marketplace or on FM's buy-&-sell forum.

Zero! I know some switching from Nikon to Canon though. I can't believe anyone switches to Nikon from Canon. It just doesn't make sense.

Why wasn't that on the poll? It should have been.

Because of the current issue with the auto focus in the latest 1D series cameras

most like hang on to their 300 thru 500s and only selling mid-size and smaller, at less that is what one of folks I know did

Pop over to DWF and you'll see 30+. Most reasons given are: 1D3 fiasco, poor QC (particularly on lenses), previously shot Nikon and the D3 has meant a happy way home. As for the suggestion that no-one moving from Canon to Nikon would have any sense, well that's just laughable. Some of us see camera kit as a tool for a job not something akin to joining a cult.

As for the longer lenses coming up for sale, not everyone has them. I've never needed anything longer than 200mm.

The WF shooters does not surprise me.
A few years back with film and early digital most of the ones I knew (all of them in fact) shot Noink.

Then there was a fast and steady migration to Canon from 2003-2007 simply because Noink did not have a camera even remotely competitive with Canon's pro models or the 5D when it was released.

Now the D3 (and D300) give the Noink shooters reason to go back.
