So over the weekend a tragedy occurred, my beloved 70-200f4 was dropped onto a wood floor and the front lense element has cracked. Not just a little crack, but a large piece of glass is now floating around inside the front element. So, now the debate of whether I replace it with a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 or a Canon 70-200 f2.8 or do I try to have it repaired? Any ideas on the cost to get something like that repaired?

~200 and 3 weeks... +/- without looking at lens.

How long have you had the lens?

I know it's too late now, but it may be a good idea to get some insurance on your kit. I have mine all covered and it only cost me about £75.00 a year. Check with your home owners insurance agent, you can more than likely get it added on. You may even be covered now. Belive me it's peace of mind knowing it's covered. I hope I'm not coming across as an a_ _ . Hope it all works out, and very sorry to hear of your mishape.

Cheers,

Martin

This is definately something I thought about the minute it fell, so I will be looking into some insurance on the remaining kit and the new lens.
