Are you sure? as you said that you didn't get the digital version.
and if it is correct one, HOLY, why is that so big different in price even if we accept that hvstar.com is best seller for filters due to price, but are they selling brand new?

Yes, I am. :)

When I said I didn't get the digital version I was talking about the plain UV(0) haze one, not CPL.

I got the digital version of the CPL, AKA "Hoya 77mm PRO1 DIGITAL Circular Polarizer Filter DMC" listed in the link I posted above. And yes, there is a huge price difference. Don't fall for B&H's prices on all items. Things such as filters are sold overseas for 60%-70% less than their US listed price. Granted, ordering from Hong Kong takes roughly 2 weeks to get (I'm on the east coast), but I'm sure most people would agree the wait is well worth saving the additional $130. Might as well order myself a new ballhead for that price difference and then pocket some of the change left. ;)

...and yes... they are brand new, factory sealed

yeah, just i don't stick myself to B&H, i got another stuff or equipments from somewhere else, it is just i trust B&H the most and i need time to find another site with good price as B&H or better and they are trustworthy and not scam or spam.

I will buy this filter sooner or later to complement my filters set even i have the best CPL so far.

I also look for many things out there and i always come to B&H to compare prices but seems i may find another sites could have much less price than B&H but in shipping and taxes they may exceed B&H, but if it is about waiting issue then i can wait 1 month if i save $100.

I know many of you have bought filters form hvstar.com but I just can't accept the fact of dealing with a business this far off and if problems with the order came up it creates quite a headache to deal with. Maybe for a $2.00 lens cap but not an expensive filter.

I bought a B+W 77 mm Kaeseman Circular Polarizer Glass Filter for B&H Photo for $164.95 this week, even cheaper than 2filter.com _ Thats only a savings of $32.00 once shipping is figured in if purchased from hvstar.com _ Its worth it to me to know I'll have my order in 3 days and if there is a problem that one quick phone call and the issue can be resolved usually very quick.

Is hvstar.com actually an authorized distributor of B+W filters?

this is sure an interesting read on hvstar (external link) < click the link

I have the same thinking of you, i bought my B+W CPL which costs about $239 or so from B&H and i never heard about hvstar before, but i may buy it from B&H still for this price, but if the price is less than $100 then i may use another site rather than B&H and give it a try.
and from what i hear so far, they say that hvstar.com is an authorized site for all filters available on their webpages.

I know, thats why i want to buy another filter with 77mm front filter thread, before they didn't write 95mm as a front filter thread

I really don't see a physical need for the extra wide version with a 95mm front thread. Your better off just getting the slim filter instead.

i did a mistake, thats all, so that i am going to get Hoya Pro1 DMC CPL filter, but as using it, i can say it is more than worthy, but i know what you mean about that extra wide 95mm, i didn't know before it has that as i said they didn't write it down, but now after i spend money on it i can't sell it or replace it, simply i have to buy another one, believe me, if i will use only CPL on my lens then i will use this one only, but as long i will use another filter with CPL then this one is not handy.

By the way I had a look at an early SHMC Pro 1 UV(O) and a Pro 1 Digital UV(O) side by side.

The frames look exactly the same other than the lettering. Placing them on a black surface and the glass just disappears the same in each case. Placing them on a white surface they had the same transparency and slight colour bias. Off axis reflections also look the same intensity and colour (neutral), which if they were different coatings you might not expect.

I also compared against one of the Hoya HMC UV filters off of an old FD lens which would have 98-99% light transmission. This did not disappear in the same way on a black surface, had a different colour bias on a white surface and different off axis reflections (green), although the latter two be be due to a different UV cutoff point.

So I am not entirely convinced the information from THK saying the SHMC Pro 1/SMC Pro1 and Pro 1 Digital have different coating is accurate.
