Well, you already have a good mix of lenses in your bag right now. You have the excellent 70-200 2.8 IS, which is already a great portrait lens. While the 85mm and 135mm are great lenses, they do overlap your 70-200. Also, the 300mm f/4.0 is a great lens as well, but the 1.4x TC with your 70-200 gives you a 280mm f/4.0 with little to no image loss, so the 300 f/4.0 seems a little redundant with your 70-200 and 1.4x tc

What I would suggest is to upgrade your camera to a 40D, or upgrade the Tammy to a 17-55, 24-70, or 24-105L. You could then sell the Tammy or XTi, and pick up another little toy, such as a 580EX II (which you don't currently have)

I agree with updating your camera to the 40D, selling your XTi and buying other stuff like a 580EX II. You'll still have a little left over to take the wife out to a nice dinner!

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, 100-400IS L, 24-105 L[COLOR=black][FONT=&quot] IS, 50mm f/1.4, Canon 430EX/580EX II, Kenko 1.5X, Epson R1900, Manfrotto 679B Monopod, 3021BPRO tripod, 808RC4 Head, 486RC2 Ballhead

Thanks for the "camera body" upgrades, but for now I'm looking at glass... If I do upgrade my camera body, it will be for a full framed sensor (5D) or a 1D series... But I don't see that happening in the near future... Bodies come and go, but good glass is here to stay... Hhehehehhehe... Thanks for you inputs...

I guess I'm doing it wrong by not asking my wife if it's ok before I purchase a new lens... ;)

Doesn't matter how you do it, you're the husband hence you are wrong.:)

It's a great birthing story tough, isn't it? LOL

A very quick and dirty test:

135L f/2 on my 5D
Shutter 1/500, ISO 800, f/2 hand held no USM, just resized and "saved for web"

The primes you mention seem to fit you best by your description and the 1.6 crop body you have.

I totally agree with what he said. If you want to shoot basketball, the 85 is a MUST have. The 135 just plain rocks.
