D Rebel Question

I have been researching the digital rebel and have a quetion about it. I have heard the flash can't be turned off. However, I like to take pictures of wildlife and don't want their eyes to have a white glow which is commonly associated with flash. Is their any way for me to solve this problem?

It is partly true.

If You use the green box and some of the other auto modes the flash will be used automatically.

If You use P, Av, Tv, Manual or A-DEP then You decide if the flash is used or not.

The last setting on your mode dial is a setting for no flash-(all the way to the right) Your built in flash or a speedlite will not fire in this mode. It looks like a box with a lighning bolt and a line through it.

True that will work, BUT this is an automode which means the camera sets all parameters. Of course if that is what is desired it does the job. Otherwise the modes I listed above should be used.

Yes autofocus will still work. Autofocus depends mainly* on the lens on which there is a switch between manual and auto.

* autofocus is affected when using an extender, see the EOS Info sticky for information about extenders.
