I've owned and used quite a few lenses over the years. I've bought and sold, just like many here. But there are a few lenses that I've sold and deeply regretted (hitting me hard somewhere between 1-2 months after the sale).

One lens that I regret selling (to a fine POTN'er I might add) is the 200 F2.8 L II USM. It's one lens that IMO is way under-appreciated and under-discussed around the forums (though when it is discussed it gets great praise --- and I don't think I've ever seen a negative thread on it actually).

So, after looking around the B&S forums, and after trying to get Bill Pham to sell me back my "baby" [], I ordered a new one from Amazon the other day. [Note to self: Don't ever sell it again ] The sharpness, color, bokeh, AF speed are just radical baby, radical.

So who else has regretted selling a lens? Did you eventually repurchase one? Which lens? Surely I can't be the only one

And here is the new lens, smelling all nice and even a "2008 Freshy"

I have sold cameras that I regretted selling later. But, never a lens. Any lens I sold, in my view, was just not worth keeping. I would have to be pretty hard up to sell one of my L's. (Knock Wood). BTW, that 200 is a great lens. Glad you got it back.

I liked my EF-S 10-22 but when I upgraded to my 5D...alas, it was not usable any longer. So I sold it. But got the 17-40 and am happy again :-)

No regrets for any equipment I've sold so far. I'm sure the day is coming though, since I told a friend I'd sell him my 28-70 f/2.8L and my 17-40 f/4L later this year.

I've bought three 17-40's and two 24-105's and two 400mm's so I guess I regret selling them. All are consistently good performers even wide open. I probably regret selling my last 400mm most as it was truly magical. My 30mm 1.4 I regret selling because I got a 5D and so wasn't really practical any more. I regret selling my 5D and getting a 40D. The 40D is awesome but it isn't a 5D. Not much is a 5D truth be told. But even saying all that I don't really have regrets. I make choices at the time for good reason, like wanting to try sdomething else or to liberate some cash for other things.

Good call there LightRules, the 200L is such a fantastic piece of glass. I don't see mine ever leaving my bag.

As for seller's remorse, nope. I reckon I'd miss my 28-105 if and when I do sell it though. I kinda miss my 400D sometimes, but only because it had served me so well and I had used it to make some of my best photographs, but I pick up the 5D and all that goes away .

I traded my 50L a few months ago since I dont get to use it - but I went and bought another one after a few weeks. I still dont get to use it, but there is something about a glass with a max aperture of F/1.2.

It just sounds sexy - just like the 85L-II.

I haven't regretted anything that I've sold yet - I do keep my 17-40 because I KNOW I'd regret selling it, and possibly the 70-200 F/4 as well. I do regret BUYING several lenses, but no sales woes here.

No full on regret here, only semi-d'ohness. Wish I had kept the 1D original instead of selling it off to get a 10D and pocket the extra cash. However, I like the 10D and pocketed the extra cash. :D

Also wish I didn't have to sell the Sigma 30mm. Wonderful on the 1D II after a little vignette removal in Lightroom. Didn't have an actual use for it, and I was a bit tight for cash at the time. I'm glad I had it to sell to pull through some bills, rather than having to let the backup body go or take a huge hit on a mainstay lens that would end up being re-purchased anyway.

No big regrets yet, although I have owned 2 17-40's and 2 50 f/1.4's, so there was apparently some sellers remorse there. :)

I regret selling all of my Hasselblad 500C/Ms and all of my lenses. Wish I would have kept the 50 CF FLE and the 180 one 500C/M and an eye level finder.
