I went to a photo store today and used my 1GB compact flash in a 20d and took some sample pics. It seemed like it was taking pictures but there were none when I got home. Any suggestions?

Possibly it wasn't formatted, or not formatted to be used in a 20D. When I got my CF for my Drebel I just put it in and it went fine but the 20D may be different.

The stores camer may have been set to shoot RAW

In which case you might not have the software to open the images.. can you see any files at all on the CF card in windows? They would end in .cr2 (assuming you can see file extensions)

I use Raw mode exclusively and did set the camera to Raw mode. I'm surprised the camera let me take any pictures if the card wasn't in correctly (sure felt like it was). I wonder if formatting for the d20 is different for the g2?

I did the same thing with a CF card and had no problem. The card was previously formated in a Powershot P&S camera. I shot the 20D in JPG mode though.

there is a custom function to allow the camera to shoot even if there is no card inserted. It may be that.

In the persuit of total contentment, Canon does not help :)
