You can expect April stock. I've clicked on "notify when in stock". $5999.00

Now the 200mm 2.8 is $639.95

That's a potential $5359.05 difference for 4 stop IS and a stop of light. I certainly think that once the initial feeding of the pro channel, its price will shrink to on par with the Nikon 200mm f/2 VR or the 300mm 2.8 IS L. Hopefully. A D3 and a 200mm will cost $8599.95 combined. Only $1729 more to get to the $10328.95 it takes to bring home 1D Mk.III and a 200mm F/2 IS.

Enjoy!

I saw that the other day and also added my name to the list.

$5400 for an extra stop in speed? Hummmm that might be more than I can justify...but I'll try and come up with something.

Funny, but I did the same D3 math you did...... Too bad a cropped sensor D3 image is only 5MP ;)

The 200 f/2 IS seems about $1500-2000 too much. I would grab one for $4500 or less. Let's hope initial sales are tepid prompting an early price reduction into reality...

The price will settle down. Nikon will see to that I'm hoping.

The Nikon 400 I think went up. The price difference between the Nikon 400 2.8 VR and the Canon 400 2.8 IS is about was about $1700. Now it is 2K
In stock though. http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ge.jsp&A=search&Q=*&bhs=t (external link)

I put it in my wish list so I can watch to see if the price comes down to a reasonable level. <sigh>

I guess it will take a year or two when prices settle before I could afford this one.
