I'm going to Vandenburg AFB tomorrow night to photograph a rocket launch. I don't know what to expect, so if anyone has shot a night space shuttle launch or other night rocket launch, I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have as to shooting the launch.

I'm planning on taking my 30D, using my 24-70 on it, and doing a bulb shot of the entire launch with the rocket streaking up.

I'm also planning on taking my 40D, using my 70-200 on it, and will try and get some shots of the launch.

Any help or sample photos would be appreciated!

Look for the "Night Shuttle Launch" thread in Transportation. Fellow POTNer brought home (IMO) one of the finest launch shots I've ever seen. I'm sure he'd offer at tip or two (as will others...)
