How to achieve these colors...

Hi,

Could someone please take a look at the following link and suggest how to achieve these type of colors? These do not look ordinary sepia colors to me and was wondering what technique might be in use here.

Gradient map. Want to emulate it almost directly? Setup a gradient map adjustment layer above your image, and input colors onto your image directly from those. If you want to retain some of the original color, lower the opacity, or use Selective Color / Hue/Sat layers to boost the specific ones to keep.

At least that's how I do it. I'm sure there's something more elegant.

I tried it with G-maps but it seems I can't setup correct gradients. It is always lacking something. I think it is multi-level gradients. (If that is what it is called)

Baadil - First, my own beginner mistake was not making sure that I still had black and white on their respective ends. Makes a big difference. Also remember that the gradient map is mapping only against your luminosity, and as such you have two ways of 'popping' the resulting image. Within the gradient map itself you can adjust where each color value will 'appear' and fade into the next. Or you can use a curves adjustment layer between your original image and the gradient map. Want to get really fancy? Use a B+W adjustment layer to control which colors will appear light and which dark in the gradient. Lots of possibilities, but as I said in the first, I'm sure there's an 'elegant' way of doing this as well.
