I run a second monitor off my laptop when Im at home. However, when I travel I do some quick editing sometimes on my laptop. I have discovered that after opening photoshop windows on the 2nd monitor when I just have my laptop I cannot use them. For example the curves window opens somewhere in never land when I am on my laptop.

I have tried opening the windows and closing them on my laptop screen to make them open there but they default to the other monitor. Anyone know how to get them back on my laptop screen?

Thanks.

In photoshop, go Window > workspace > reset palette locations.
(You might want to save the one you're currently using first).

That brought a couple of the main palettes back. (Tools, navigator) However, the curves window and such are still opening in never never land.

Thank for your help though Rene

Oops, misread a bit...
Attach the (a) second monitor, and drag them back ;)

What also might work (depending on OS), is opening the display prefs and change monitor 'arrangement'. IIRC, if I change the arrangement on my G4, photoshops workspace is defaulted back to the main screen.

Windows will open the window in the Primary display. Designate your notebook display as the primary display, this issue will most likely go away.

You can also still use Rene's techniques to save two presets fro the all the tools and palettes. Just create the toll presets when you have the 2nd monitor attached so you can move everything where you want fro each set up.

:D That drove me nuts for a while before I figured out why it stalled when I tried to save as a tiff.
