I still havent managed to get a good session in the hide about an hour or so. But things are now ready for the spring and the rest of the year :D

First up is the hide fresh and looking a bit new so ill be planting up with so polygonum a rampant climber that's got the nickname mile a minute.

Construction is 1-1/4 pallets for the floor 1-1/2 panells sq, trellis 6'x6'.
all wrapped in green tarp then covered in bruch wood from a roll. Any old scrap wood for the roof and some felt.
As the little canopy is water proof I can still do my wet bird shots.

Despite the little hole for the lens the birds are very wary, especially the starlings.

Wildflowers and many other flowers will be in the waste ground at front, this will bring in all the butterflies and insects so I can do some macro work, which I miss doing

and a set of images whilst this grows will be posted later in the year.

and here are the birds

I really cant wait to get some good light and spend a little more than an hour, and the good thing is I can go for a cup of tea any time ;)

30/10/08 update had to move due to birds not changing there flight path and in 7months not much in the studio
so ive up stick and and some very exsitting shots.

many thanks jason.

Nice setup you got there, and very nice pictures. Yeah, sometimes, an hour seems like an eternity, and at other times (especially when having 'fun') it seems like it just started.

Birds are nice and detailed...and the design of your hide is pretty cool. I'll be looking to see what you produce once you DO have time...hehe.

Great setup Jason. I have an inclosed porch with a hole just like that, but unfortunately, the Lilac Bush blocks most of the good shooting angles and I would hate to cut it cause it's in the right angle from my room. :)

Not sure, but I think those birds know you are there.

Nice one, Jason. Your chaffinch is excellent, well worth the work! Mind you, you could have wired your hide too so you wouldn't have to move to get that cup of tea. If it's anything like my garden, the second you turn your back to do something else, all the birds come out and do complex song and dance movements just to annoy you... :D

Beautiful pictures, Jason, and I love your hide, but.... mile -a-minute vine? Is that not a problem where you are? Here in Maryland it's considered an invasive species and every effort is made to eradicate it.

I like these, really sharp. Did you use your 70-300 IS for these by any chance?
I'm looking for an excuse to get that lens

Thanks for showing.

Great shots, Jason, and an excellent hide!! Perhaps when I can afford a garden in the town I live in I will have one one day.
