just wondering if its possible to mount a 5D grip to a 40D body? not sure if the 5D body is wider then the 40D but it looks like it is to me.

the reason I ask this is because I dont like the 40D/30D/20D grip. its just cheap and looks stupid on the 40D. I feel my XTi grip was built better...

anyways if anyone knows, please do tell

thanks,

Joel

No it’s not. The sizes are different.

But I think trying to fit the battery door of the 5D grip to the 40D would be a good idea; the E2’s and E2N’s are stinkingly bad grips!

I figured it wouldn't work.. the BGE2 and BGE2n are just very awfully designed.. the no rubber on the battery door is stupid, makes me mad. also that it is not contoured to fit the body on the side with usb connector.. its looks so stupid.. the 10D grip looks nice like the 5D but what came in between the two models looks like balls.. why they didn't add the AF-on button to the BGE2n grip is another question.. canon must have wanted to be dicks that day I guess.....

thanks,

Joel

I wish I could get the 5D's grip to work with a 30D, then I would have one for both cameras. When I get a 30D that is.

I didn't say Canon makes them, although, Canon makes 3 of them, and I know for a fact, there is at least one other aftermarket company that makes a verticle battery grip for the 40D, and I think 2 others, I wasn't paying attention, since I had already ordered my BG-E2N.

The Canon ones are; the Optional BP-E2 battery grip, the Canon BG-E2N, supposedly waterproofed, but I bet not, and the wireless WFT-E3/E3A. You can look them up if you want.

The first one should be a BG-E2. Then they made the BG-E2N for the 40D along with the wireless one. I know of those 3 but wasnt aware that Canon made a 4th so I asked. I dont need to look it up.

You may need to look up the advertising for the N grip though because they never claimed the BG-E2N was waterproof...

New system accessories for the EOS 40D SLR include the redesigned high-capacity Battery Grip BG-E2N, which facilitates high-volume shooting and easier vertical shooting. Compatible with up to two BP-511A battery packs or a set of six AA-size batteries, the battery grip approximately doubles the number of shots that can be taken, compared with the battery power of the EOS 40D SLR alone. The BG-E2N grip features new sealing material around the battery compartment to better resist water and dust. The new model replaces the original BG-E2 grip and is compatible with the EOS 20D, 30D and 40D models.
