I might be wrong, but it sounds like this description is copied from a website's description. I might be even more wrong, but the way it's worded but make me think it's from a sketchy website. If you're ordering online, make sure and check www.resellerratings.com (external link) to make sure you won't get scammed.

I'm assuming he's referring to this thread - in which a Sigma 30 1.4 "killed" a 30D and an XT - however I have the exact same lens and bodies, all of which have gotten along just fine since day one.

The 24-70 is an excellent lens with a number threads reviewing it in detail - here's a quick lsit of related threads...

I have one and it's on my camera most of the time. Would I like to have the Canon 24-70, yes I would, but for the money this is a very good lens. Never had a problem with it and it takes nice crsip pics.

I would take the Tamron 28-75 over this lens.

Well, I have 2 sigma lenses (and used to own a third) - all have behaved impeccably on my EOS 300D, 10D, 20D, and now 40D.

Just check www.resellerratings.com (external link) to make sure it's a reputable website :). And then enjoy it! It's a great lens.
