My hard drive crashed and I had to reinstall Photoshop. It was two years ago when I first installed CS2. I'm guessing there must have been quite a bit of customizing set up to do but I just don't remember.

I used to be able to open a raw file in Bridge by double clicking on it, now I have to command+R and it will then bring up camera raw. If it's a jpg or other non raw file I can't seem to open it at all. I can see the image in Bridge but can't open it into photoshop so I can edit it.

I have Scott Kelby's CS2 book and just flipping through it, I didn't see anything about set up after initial installation. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

EllenC,

I hope you find some answers because I'm having a similar problem. After reformatting my hard drive camera raw images don't open the way they used to. I have to right click them and then select open in camera raw. Jpegs now open the paint program instead of CS2.

I guess we both have to play around with some settings. I'll let you know if I find a solution.

James

You need to log into the Adobe web site and download the updates for not only CS2 but also Adobe Camera Raw which is recently updated to 4.4

PS changing settings won't help!

I don't think camera raw 4.4 is for any version of photoshop earlier than CS3 so I don't think this would help

For me I uninstalled and reinstalled CS2 and now everything works fine.

Camera raw 3.7 should do you, and while your at Canon you can get the Codec 1.2 for viewing raw files..

Haven't had a chance to get back to this thread until now. I downloaded all the updates and unfortunately am still having the problem. My next course of action is to uninstall and reinstall and just start over.

Oy this is frustrating! I haven't been able to do any editing for a few weeks now. I wish I wasn't so computer illiterate.

I am having a similar problem. I was wondering if it was because I went to vista. Also, when I open CS2 I am asked to register it every time and I have already done so approximately 5 times! I will keep my eyes open for answers!

Open Adobe Bridge, go to Edit > Preferences and Select File Type Associations. click on the drop-down list for each of your desired file types and changed the default program to Photoshop.

That's an entirely different problem that is related to Vista's security settings. To work around this, simply right click on the Photoshop CS2 shortcut in the Start menu and click "Run as administrator." Then provide consent when User Account Control asks you. When prompted to register, click on "Do not register" and then close Photoshop CS2. Relaunch it normally, (i.e. without running it as Administrator) and your problem should be solved.
