I have a new Powershot A570IS that so far has used a tremendous number of batteries. It's supposed to get 120 shots with LCD and 400 without. I'm looking at like 10 shots sometimes. So somethings wrong, and I don't think it's the batteries. Is there any setting that could give this crappy battery usage, or could there be a problem with this camera.
Thanks,
Al

What knd of batteries are you using?

I'm using some energizer rechargeables2500mh and they seem to be good for about 200 - 300. I went throught the menu, and turned of all the power options, off or down. Sound, volume, lcd screen on time etc.

Memorex Alkaline at first. Now I've got some Israeli brand that seems to be working better. I turned off all the extras and today took 332 pictures on four batteries. That's acceptable.
Thanks,
Al

Alkalines just can't cut it for digitl camera work; they don't have the quick recovery of rechargeables.

indeed, the included batterys and any alkaline battery are horrible for todays digital cameras. I had the same camera and used Energizer 2500 mAh with great success. I would indeed try those before anything else.

Also, where are you located? is it cold? Cold weather is known to drain batteries.
