Hello folks!

Here are some shots from today. I had SO much fun with my new AB800!

ISO 100
f/5.6
1/200

AB set on 1/4 power 45 degrees from subject, north window and reflector opposite for fill. It was my first time with my new light and it was FUN!

1. Her mom's favorite!

8. My first shot. Actually a test shot to check my settings since I'm chimping without a light meter. Composition is awkward but mom loved it.

Any C&C would be appreciated. I know the BG is pretty grey but I only have the one light and I hesitate to over PP images.

EDIT: I will PP out wrinkles when she makes her order. I REALLY want some paper.

A great series.
I really like number 1, though would like to see a tighter crop without the space above her head.

Number 2 is perfect.
Number 3 could also use to be tighter.
I like the room you left to the left when viewing in Number 4, but as she's looking down it's not really necessary. If she was gazing in that direction that much room would work better.

Number 5 is a great expression, but I'm slightly drawn to the big creases in the material caused by the chair legs.

Number 6 is wonderful, but IMHO could use a bit more light on her face. could be my monitor though.
Number 7 has great attitude.
For a test shot, you are just about spot on with the lights in number 8.

Overall, very well done, first time notwithstanding.

Thanks mark! I know the crops are weird on some but her mom requested them that way. She's my best friend and was hovering while we were peeking at the images on the computer and directed me where to crop. So, I do what I'm told although I wish it were done differently....

I'll see what I can do about the wrinkles.

I hear ya, but in LR I just make virtual copies of any photo I want to experiment with and then crop and play to my heart's content.

You know the old saying, don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes.

Also, I don't think the crops are weird at all. Sorry if I conveyed that. I also think cropping is so subjective that I rarely comment on that aspect.
The only reason I did is lately when I supply a client with shots, as in the event I did last weekend, it seems the closer the shot, the tighter the crop, the more impactful and it just gets that wow factor as they view them.

Nice shots. Cropping doesn't seem obviously weird

LOL, she's not mine...but I hope if I have a daughter this time that she'll be as pretty as this little girl is.

I agree on the tighter crops but I'm sure she'll order an 8x10 of some and that will pull it in tighter. She also has a thing for horizontal crops which is why some of them are horizontal when I think vertical would be better.

I can't find anything wrong with these, Tiffany. I would be proud of them if they were mine. You apparently have a very good understanding of lighting concepts to do so well on your first try.

What size Softliter did you get?

Thanks Curtis! That means a lot coming from a master flasher. ;) I went with the 46" softlighter and I'm really happy with it.

Well, mom also asked for a little collage that she can email out to family, friends, co-workers, etc and this is where I ended up.

They are very nice! The reflector and light looks like what I was missing from mine. Ive done a few different easter shoots for friends and family and have had to spend WAY too much time editing and had to do some rediculous things with the pictures to make them work. I was hoping someone would post an easter shoot... thank you for sharing. I'm too ashamed of the ones I took to post them on here
