Just ordered some goodies, and I'm excited!

I'm pretty happy about this order, so I figured I'd share. Here's what I have coming (should be here hopefully by Friday).

I just ordered the promax and softbox as well as the rocket blower myself. Came in last week. I really like the Lumiquest products, though I still find the output to be brighter than a standard stick on diffuser. Luckily with the 550 it's easy to crank that down a bit.

Weird, I just ordered a lot of the same stuff last night from B&H. Order included:

I also have a 20D on order but it hasn't come in stock yet Did get my 24-70 f/2.8L the other day though. Much good it does me without the 20D...

I ordered the following yesterday:

- Canon Speedlite 550 EX
- Canon ST-E2 wireless transmitter for the flash
- LumiQuest ProMax system

I already have a 420 EX, but I don't use it very much because it's so limiting to have the flash always at the same place in the hotshoe. Now I'm looking forward to be able to place my two flashes anywhere I want.... which will give me a lot more creative flash photography options.

I decided to get the ST-E2 instead of the off camera shoe cord, because it gives me more freedom than the cord and allows me to do things like set the ratio of the flash output of both flashes.

I also have a Stofen Omnibounce for the 420 EX, but it doesn't help a lot to soften shadows - it only works well in small rooms with white walls and / or ceilings to bounce the light off of.

Awww I'm broke and I want new toys

My new toys came in today. Man that bracket is huge. It's a bit difficult to get used to though. Either way, I love 'em all. I really like the lumiquest stuff. I've been playin around with it a bit and am really enjoying it. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to actually take a portrait yet.

Congrats, FlipsideE. Have you had a chance to use the anti-twist plate with the camera and the grip? Does it work either way?

As a side note, when you say the bracket is huge, do you mean that it reaches high up into the air. If so, and if it's not really to your liking, the maybe you can exchange it for the Press-T which has a little short reach the the Pro-T. The only drawback is that it might be a little "tight" (clearance wise) with the grip on, though.

Anyway, congrats again.

- Unfortunately, I don't have the grip yet. It's on my list, but chalked up for a later purchase. The only downsides to the bracket as I see it are: it is rather tall, but something I will get used to and not a defect in the bracket. I like this one, and I plan to keep it. Secondly, the it seems that with this bracket, the camera still has to take a lot of the brunt of the weight versus the bracket itself. I was *thinking* that the bracket hold would be a tad closer to the shutter release than it is. But, again, not a problem...just something I'll have to get used to.
