hey, well the pics came out better then i thought!, i looked at them on my computer with my crappy monitor, and they were like meh, came to my moms house where she has a better monitor, and they were like night and day lol, i think i need to update my monitor! lol, but im having problems, i edit them while they are raw, but when i convert them to jpeg, they dont seem to stay the way that i edited them, i took a shot of the church, and turned the sharpness right up, picture looks awesome, but i convert it, and its like blurry again. can someone help me with that? also, i have def. been missing out shooting not in raw mode, i dont think i will ever shoot anything but raw from now one!, flash helped lots!, but it was weird, in the church, i shot A LOT without flash, it had lots of light coming in from the windows that just using the natural light was good enough. exposer was a killer through! but i have a lot of behind the screen time to crop/ edit the pics before i burn cds for people. but overall, it was busy!! i didnt get to relax until after the dinner and first dance and what not. i couldent believe how busy i was with the whole church and after that, i barley got to talk to family until after the dinner. crazy! shot all with the kit lens, but in the church, they had a place you could go kind of like an upstairs balcony, dont know the proper name for it, but i went up there to get out of the way and to get clean shots, and used the zoom lens for that.

Wish that I would have seen this thread a couple of weeks ago! I just got back from my cousin's wedding - the first since having something other than a P&S (30D purchased a cool week-and-a-half before the wedding!). I wasn't there in any sort of official capacity, so the only pressure I felt was self-induced, but still the advice would have helped!

Bill is my name - I'm the most wanted man on my island, except I'm not on my island, of course. More's the pity.

Are you resizing your images when you are converting from RAW the JPEG?
Are you saving the JPEGs at the highest settings?

First .. the raw converter I use (adobe photoshop) only shows you a preview of any sharpness settings when inside the raw converter. After you hit <OK> on the image, the conversion settings are applied without the sharpness coming over - what you then have to do is go and apply sharpening to the picture.

Second, once you are done with the raw conversion, you have to save them as JPGs. Then you can upload the jpgs to your photo hosting site and link to them or post them on here.

It sounds like a lot but once you get the workflow down its very very fast. I have actions set up in photoshop that take care of my basic processing including any standard sharpening I add as well as a vignette.

I too am eagerly awaiting the photos .... ask away if you have specific questions about uploading or processing.

Here is a place you can check out to renting from,
http://www.lenslenders.com/ (external link)
They are based is Canada. Which is great for you because you won't have to worry about your order getting stuck in customs.
Renting is also a good idea because you may find that the lens you thought you needed to pay BIG $$$ for really isn't what you need.
Anyways...
Good luck!
