On the last pic - holy shiney floors! :)

Fantastic first pictures! Now just learn photoshop and you'd be on your way! Good job.

Gurry, I have been very busy and I'm sorry I didn't get back to comment on your pictures.

I think you did a nice job, especially for the first time. You came through under pressure. I know what that pressure feels like. Congrats.

Best wishes, Don

I think Tim has good point (as if he needs validation from me :D )

It's always amazed me how couples or families don't bat an eye at spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on a cake, invitations, flowers, dresses, napkins, decorations, etc.; all things that will be gone or usless after that day. And yet when it comes to the photographs, the only thing that will last and capture the emotion and memories of the day, they don't bat an eye at having uncle Bob with his shiny new SLR shoot the wedding.

I don't know... I think it's pretty unfair to say that. Some brides are lucky enough that Grandpa and Dad are really excellent photographers with a shiny, if not new, dSLR to shoot thier wedding. :-D

Hi Rachel - true, that does happen sometimes, but it's generally an exception to the rule. And realistically, most dads and grandpa's are not as proficient with PS as the pro's out there and many of the folks in this forum.

I'll have to side with the importance of "lasting memories" as opposed to the short term meal and cake ;).

In all fairness, my cousin still had her cake in the freezer over a year later.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

you have a decent setup already for a wedding. Try to bounce your flash as much as possible, but i think you will do fine.

Sorry I was trying to be funny because Phil Light is my father-in-law, and he and my husband's grandfather took the photos at my wedding. They turned out beautifully!

Oops, I caught this one a little late. Yes it's true Rachel is married to my heathen son. ;)

(It's kind of nice being an exception to a rule.)

Yep, my dad has been a wedding photographer for 40 years and my daughter-in-law as well as my daugher (Lil Light) are Canon enthusiasts and members of this forum. - I think I'm about due for a kick-back from Canon.

Well then, that saves me from saying what I was gonna say about including Uncle's in the conversation. :p

I'll say .. it's nice to know that POTN truly is a "Family" ..

An entire thread could be dedicated to this topic alone ..
I wonder what percentage of POTN families really are here?

No wonder I love this place .. ;)

Aw, shucks... but somehow that comment contradicts my title.
