I did a lot of shooting this weekend. 5 basketball games sat followed by a trip to the Botanical Garden yesterday. This was my first time trying off camera flash outdoors. I got a lot of good stuff. My gf was my model and wasnt always interested in what we were doing. But I still got some good stuff. The light outside was pretty good...not too bright not too dark. I just played around with different stuff and got some neat stuff.

CC very welcome. I like to learn all I can and get as many opinions as I can. I notice things that are wrong from looking at them myself. But I would like to see what others thoughts are.

1.
I was just getting things set and she wasnt paying attention but I still think this one is neat. I have another I allowed more ambient in, but its not as nice as this one.

This one I was trying to get her to smile. I said something goofy and she started acting goofy. I ended up with this lol

I like this pic. But didnt realize how "warm" it was until I looked at it on a different monitor. I'll go back and cool it down in RAW PP later. But I'll go ahead and post it now anyway

No smile :(. But I love everything else about this one. I'll be redoing this shot in the future.

The first two look underexposed, though the second one has a night feel to it and I like the expression on her face. 4 and 5 are my favorites. Maybe blur out the column and b/g a little bit in 4?

ya I underexposed the ambient on purpose. I think it has a cool look with the flash. Thanks for the comments though :)

I like #4. The tree in the first shot is AMAZING. That is one HUGE tree :)

Not bad at all, I like number 3 best. Wish I had a place like that to shoot nearby...and maybe a girlfriend to model for me. Unfortunately my wife wouldn't approve. :)

Good pictures! As far as composition goes, the focal point should be on her, but in most of your images, the image is spread out a little too much involving too much of the environment. That's not particularly bad at all but I would like to see her complimented by the environment instead of 'thrown' or 'mixed' into it.
