Pic 5 shows the scoreboard....is it really 8-0???? That must have been a fun game.

Brian, try to shoot tighter and crop your images to help isolate the players.
I suggest you switch your camera to AV mode. Set your ISO to 400, and your aperature to the fastest setting (f/4) and try that.

Remember - face, ball, action. Those are three elements that you should try to include in the pics. You don't always have to have the ball if you have some kind of facial expression or unique action.

Looks like a good start.
Good luck.

Why ISO at 400? Wouldn't you want to go lower?

For ISO, I adjust it as needed to give me a fast shutterspeed. I shoot nearly wide open and adjust the ISO up or down, sometimes backing off to 200 if it is a sunny day. As the day goes on, I will start to increase the ISO, eventually winding up at 3200 for the night games. To me, 400 is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

NOTE: When you set a camera to "Sports" mode, the camera switches to ISO 400, and opens the aperature some.

Hope this helps.
Mike

pretty decent shots, watch your composition. and just as MT Stringer said, hen shooting a sport, try to include what there playing with. For example, soccer ball, football, basketball...etc. Shots that express the players emotions at that split second there shooting a goal or cutting of another apponent ont he soccer feild is where you will see "wow" shots.
