I suggest you switch your camera to AV mode. Set your ISO to 400, and your aperature to the fastest setting (f/4) and try that. Why ISO at 400? Wouldn't you want to go lower?

I shoot nearly wide open and adjust the ISO up or down, sometimes backing off to 200 if it is a sunny day. As the day goes on, I will start to increase the ISO, eventually winding up at 3200 for the night games. To me, 400 is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

For example, soccer ball, football, basketball...etc. Shots that express the players emotions at that split second there shooting a goal or cutting of another apponent ont he soccer feild is where you will see "wow" shots.
