JJD, look at the 6th photo from the start of this thread. You can clearly see the two small wheel wells inside the 1620. You will also see that they are not an issue. :)

Thanks!

Ah! Yesterday I was looking to order from LeisurePro because shipping was showing at $7.95. Just went to place an order and shipping is now showing $28.45!

They also do not have the Olive Drab green  but B&H does (Out of stock at this time) :(

I am going to contact B&H and see if they will match LeisurePro as the case can be purchased with shipping from Leisure for less than B&H's base price.

It looks like shipping is the same for 1 or 2 cases at Leisure. Maybe I can talk the g/f into letting me order his & hers since we know we'll eventually need it

I ended up placing an order through LeisurePro on Wednesday. I can't wait for it to arrive

Thanks to ben_r_ for the informative review. I was already leaning heavily toward this case and this thread cemented my desire to buy it. I ordered from Cases4Less in California (they'll be shipping to me up in Toronto, ON) - even with the shipping rates, it'll still be cheaper than buying locally.

I ordered the lid organizer after reading another thread explaining that it was fairly simple to accommodate both the lid foam and organizer...

https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?p=7235667

(see the photos near the bottom of the page)

He has the 1614 case shown in the photos, but the length and width are nearly identical to the 1624. If anyone is still interested in the lid organizer debate, I'll post photos once mine comes in the mail next week. I'm pretty sure I saw a post near the bottom of page 4 in this thread that confirms the lid foam can be sandwiched between the organizer and the divider set.

Can anyone tell me if the 1624 will accomodate a Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VRII standing vertically up?

I'm trying to make an informed decision on which model to buy, but I'd like to have this lens standing vertically with nothing touching the top of it (lens cap).

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Being that the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VRII is only .7 inches (18mm) longer than the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS, I am going to say yes it should fit fine.

Glad i found this. I currently use my 1620 to tote around my old school white lightnings (coffee can lights). I destroyed the pick n pluck foam for any future use as a camera case...hence the search for the dividers. Would like to use for weddings, as carrying seperate bags for our stuff is really a pain (4 bodies, 8 lenses, a variety of flashes and other stuff). Plus it would draw a lot more attention to someone trying to haul away a pelican case than a cumpler, so it adds a sense of security (not that anything in this world is theft proof...just makes it that much more difficult to someone looking to walk off with my stuff)! I'm happy to see all your gear fit in there nicely. And by looking at where you have your 70-200...it looks like it might be wide enough in those pockets to accomodate the 200 1.8L. Thanks to you it looks like I will be plunking down the $149 for the dividers (BnH price). Thanks for doing this.

Thank You guys. I was thinking of buying the thinktank airport something v.2 but the 1620 is a better option to protect my gear. I will order the case when I'm coming back from my short vacation.

Although this is a older review its excellent. Would like to thank Ben et al for all the follow up feed back to Ben's review.

As far as the accesory lid, I would not hesitate to purchase it. As someone else pointed out high density fom is reasonably cheap, and thickness and size can easily be cut to size...

Ben,

I spent the last few days trying to figure out which case to get. I just received my 1624 today and finished packing it up. Once I received it, I knew I made the right choice. This is my first Pelican case. The quality is awesome.

Thanks for the great review.

Will do. I can't believe I was worried about it being too big. I have only one or 2 empty slots.
