Sounds good...but

"If your camera's firmware is already version 1.0.5, it is not necessary to perform this update."

You mean 1.0.6 right :D?

The notes for 1.1.1 state that the new firmware also allows for the EXIF data to properly show the "newly released" 85mm f/1.2L II and the 16-35mm f/2.8L II. I have both of these lenses and I don't even think I noticed that the respective lenses were not showing in the EXIF. Just wondering if anyone noticed this problem with previous firmware versions.

I think it must just add the II designation. My zoom shows up just fine.

It went smoothly and I'm glad Canon decided to put out an update for the larger CF cards.

It now supports high-capacity CF cards.

can someone clarify that one for me?
How big can a 5D handle w/o this firmware (I'm on 1.1.0) and how big with 1.1.1?

If I remember correctly, the 5D can support up to 8GB cards.

Tested on a 12 and it formatted but that is the largest I have. One would assume that they went up to 32s.

now why would they bother updating this camera if they plan to replace it soon, this lends me to believe there will be no 5D successor anytime soon.

All they did was change a few bits to allow larger CF cards, and added some lens info for EXIF... hardly an update. I still don't see micro-AF adjustment in my menus and the direct print button is still there... so I don't think they upgraded it too much.

I've downloaded the update and when extracted it makes a file that's 5,082 KB in size. The update installation instructions suggest that this file should be 5,202,980bytes in size and if it isn't, to download the update again (which I've now done done, twice).

Now this doesn't look like it's right even when the conversion is made from KB to bytes. Is a) anyone/everyone getting this 5,082KB extraction size?; and b) is it OK?
