I've had a P3000 for six months and am very happy with it. Really like the fact that I can pop my CF and SD cards in the built-in slots and have downloads quickly and easily. Battery life is phenomenal, screen is very good, menus are intuitive and easily accessible.....all in all a very well designed and functional item.
Highly recommend.

For those interested, it's actually nine minutes for a 4gb Extreme IV card. Slower than downloading to my pc (6 mins) but not slow by any means.:)

For those interested I have the new Colorspace O arriving in about 1.5 weeks... I'll be sticking a drive in myself (somewhere between 120 and 250gb). I'll post a review when I get it.

Slihgt problem with my p3000.
While demonstrating (ok, showing off) to a friend, we used to his micro SD card from his phone to show how it worked, and now I cant delete the folder.
Works fine with other folders, just seems to not recognise this one.
Any suggestions, people???

EDIT; PC tells me Access is denied, SD is write protected, unable to delete. Looks like it's on there efor a while then. Don't try this at home, kids.

just an update. my buddy iinstalled a 120 gb fujitsu drive in my epson p-3000 and it works perfectly.

so total cost of the project -- providing i get my rebates -- is $280. hey that's a much better deal than the 80-gig p-5000 :D.

Anyone got any ideas as to a cheap(er) multimedia storage device? I don't mind if the hard drive is only 20GB, I just need it for shorts travels (1 week trips) where I don't want to carry my laptop, and don't want to pay for something like the P5000 (right now anyway). I need the money for the 1 week trips instead!

Tristan try the Vosonic range there alot cheaper than the epson and canon versions, they have versions with screens and cheaper versions without the screen.

This aside, does it do a reasonable job of storing your shots? What's the download speed like, etc?

Curious to know if fellow Epson P-5000 owners have upgraded their 80GB HD's to something larger (i.e. 160GB or 250GB) using the same "hard drive upgrade" process for the P-3000 model? Thanks in advance...

120gb is the absolute maximum you will be able to upgrade the Epson P3k/P5k, anything else will just be a waste, 160gb, you will see 126gb iirc and you will see the same for a 250gb, it's something to do with the hardware.

Considering how small the Epson hd's seem to be these days, how can the P3k/P5k compete (at least price-wise) with the Hyperdrive Colorvision O? Are people seriously willing to pay for multimedia capabilities? Don't people have iPods? :)

Because it has an marvelous and large screen and iPods don't work worth squat for media storage when you are shooting (slow download and short battery life).
