Exposure compensation doesn't exist in M mode. Actually, the concept is meaningless in M. You've already set your exposure at 1/60 and f/11 - if that's not a good exposure, change one of them or change ISO. That's all you can do.

My 30D manual, in the "exposure compensation" section, starts out with:
"1 - Turn the mode dial to any creative zone except <M>"

-js

"Be seeing you."
50D - 17-55 f/2.8 IS - 18-55 IS - 28-105 II USM - 60 f/2.8 macro - 70-200 f/4 L - Sigma flash

i'de suggest starting out in Av mode or Tv mode and playing from there. Av personally, since you really need to get aperture down, shutter speed just compliments ISO in making the right aperture setting work under the lighting conditions, at least at first. when in Av, it'll work exactly like the manual says

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.
