ROTFLMAO. the underdog (nikon/apple) gets alot of free passes. not saying canon hasn't screwed up alot - it has - but that doesn't change the dynamic. again, just because something had a certain dynamic in the past doesn't mean that it can't or won't change. to me it seems like Nikon is really pushing hard right now with some killer bodies and killer optics while Canon has been resting with legs up at some beach...

Brand loyalty is what is really crazy, I could give a rats arse what brand I shoot with, just want it to perform. I thought long and hard about the D3, actually, still thinking long and hard about Nikon overall, but less now....Since getting the 1DsmkII I seemed to have found a body I really really love and it matches up with my glass perfectly. Get off the Nikon/Canon, "My dads bigger than your Dad" kick, if you're not using a D3 or D300 then you really have no clue what Nikon has morphed into...Add the glass and now we have two (IMHO) very good choices with a plethora of options for each system. Thats a good thing AMEN!!! pieq314 wrote in post #5148642 But in a Canon forum, you can say good things about Nikon without being kicked out. That is, Canon users are more objective than Nikon users. i disagree, myself and a few other members have been called names and attacked many times just because we dared to say that Nikon is doing something better than Canon. since the release of the D3 and D300, i have reached the conclusion that Canon users are just as crazy as the Nikon users

I remember being told this when I was just starting out, "it don't matter what camera is in your hands. it's the mug behind it that will make or break the photo".

They're useful for info on specific items, but a lot of members are too biased for their own good. It's just a tool, go take pictures with it and post them... What is the purpose of a brand-specific forum? To get info on items from that brand, perhaps? That's why I come here. I don't come here expecting to see the bandwidth/HDD space chewed up with debates about other brands. This is not where I would come to learn about other brands. This is not where I would expect to find people knowledgeable about other brands. I come here expecting to find people with experience, knowledge, and (mostly) opinion about Canon products. There may be people here who have experience and knowledge (the opinion is a given) about other brands, but they are noise, not signal, in this environment. If I ever decide to change equipment brands, I will no longer come here, because then POTN will then be noise, not signal. A piece of gear stands or falls on it's abilities in comparison to what other comparable pieces of gear offer. So numbers themselves are nothing unless there are comparisons. .. But I also like to think of the group as photographers, not gear collectors or brand fan bois. I know there are a lot of all 3 here, I just try to only associate with the first. My Gear List
