I just got my second set so now I have two. I figure the one I got a couple of weeks ago must have been from the first time I requested a set over a year ago and the one yesterday was from a few months ago. I might have filled in the form one other time but I cant remember. So now I have a set for the 430 and the 580. :)

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

I just got a package from Lees, but all it was, was a book of their products...no filters:(. So I guess I will reorder from the first page instead of clicking the US link. Still waiitng on the ROsco ones.

I got mine yesterday - 2 roscolux 'booklets' one larger the other smaller, but thicker(more filters in the smaller size). They work nice with a bit of stickytape (low tack) but does anyone want to put up pictures of their methods of attachment/storage? to give the rest of us a shortcut -> putting them to good use? - i've seen a few ideas so far - usually requiring velcro - but nothing as simple as a 'dropin' holder like is available for lens filters.

I just ordered some gels (ho hum) and am now wondering how to stick the stuff in front of my Metz to balance for tungsten etc. Rubber band work ok?

I ordered around six months ago. They never came, so I tried to order again.
About three weeks later, they got here.

Two weeks after that, another set arrived. ;)
And yes, it was a different set.

Well, earlier in this thread there were several examples given...

A - The Velcro Solution...

In case anyone would like to see an example of what to do with them:

QUOTED IMAGE

DDCSD wrote in post #5174056 (external link)
I just took the velcro and put the hooks on one side and the loops on the other, with just enough over the gel to not get into the flash face. This is very secure.

B - The "Laminate the Gel" approach: (I don't know why the photo didn't come in the quote, but click on the little blue arrow to see his original post with photo):

Zebceponaf wrote in post #5185894 (external link)
in case somebody was wondering of an easy way to make these easily attachable here what I did:

1) put some velcro on the sides of your flash head
2) sandwich the color filter between 2 pieces of clear packing tape that extends past the filter about an inch on each side. (poor mans laminating machine)
3) attach velcro to the filter/tape combo
4) kapow!
5) add the filter label inside the tape for extra points

And C - the Fixture to which you can clip the Gel:

just thought Id share my ghetto setup. it took no more than 10 minutes to cut and glue. quick enough to get something that would work.

I Saw one similar to this last one with another piece of cardboard in front sealed on three sides, so the gell could just slip in... But I can't find it now.

Thanks you found some suggestions there i hadn't seen...

i think the best way would be something that can be easily changed for different colours (velcro and laminate require special attention for each gel) and easily removed from the flash, but at the same time not easily 'blown away by the wind'.

the ability to snoot the gelled flash would also be handy, so that's the next hurdle...

I didn't search through all of the posts, but you can pick up these swatch books from any stage lighting supplier, Here in orlando Stage Equipment and Lighting (SEAL) is one such vendor I have used for years for lighting equipment rental. I have several of these swatchbooks from rosco and lee. I will have to look into a flash to play around with this.

Every 2 years, there is a LDI show here in orlando that has several of these samples and such.

My MacSnoot goes right over top of my velcro'd 430EX with gel attached.
