Great shots! You can really see the early season pain in some of the faces (I think the horse is the only one who looks really comfortable!). It's still another month before we have enough snow gone to get the bikes out here.

Were you using flash on these shots? They seem very well exposed.

Thanks again!

G.

"Were you using flash on these shots? They seem very well exposed." - Yes, I almost exclusively use flash. It really makes the colors "pop."

"Looks like the classic is holding a place in your bag!"- I actually prefer it over the 40D. The smaller files are a lot easier to work with, especially if you're shooting >1,000 images. Also, it's easier to upload them to the website.

Pictures one and three don't really indicate racing, both would be a lot better if..... You had all of the bike in the shot or a least showing the riders hand's on the bars. Five and six cut part of the front wheel off both of them.
All pictures very clean and have excellent focus and movement has been stopped.

Thanks for all the comments. One of the quirks about shooting with the 1D Classic is you have to frame the shot as you want it as you're taking it. It's hard to do a heavy crop on a 4MP image. I like getting a variety of head shots, head/upper body shots, shots with most of the bike, shots with a part of the bike (ie sprocket/hub, etc.), shots with all of the bike/rider, and shots of the crowd. I also like getting a variety of wide aperture and narrow aperture shots as well. A lot of my counterparts only shoot with wide apertures and all their shots start to look the same after a while. I like to mix it up a bit. I'm at a different venue every week and I like to get the background from the different venues in the shot, or else all the images from week to week look the same.
