My lens shade is very loose and flops around from being worn out. Anyone know how I can fix it up?

Also, anyone know of a matching paint that doesn't cost a ba-zillion dollars so I bring this baby back to beautiful?

Thanks,
Frank

Boy, looks like a war veteran. Screw on hood? What's loose? I'll bet there is some car touch-up paint in the same shade ( color, trying to avoid a pun.) Visit a large car parts store?

Canon has touch up paint you can buy if you wish.

Once you've pulled the hood out to it's full extent, can you give it a twist to lock it? Mine does, but if it is worn out maybe yours won't?

Cheers

Link to paint that sells on ebay.

I don't think that this is a detachable hood for the 300mm f4. It is supposed to be permanently attached and slide back and forth. You can send it back to Canon. They should be able to sew it back on for you.

Yes it is detachable. I unscrewed the retaining ring and slid the hood towards the mounting end and then off.

No screw lock either.

It seems to need some felt replaced on the inside of the shade, but I wanted to ask here to see if anyone knew.

Thanks,
Frank

What can I say, it's an excellent lens. Remember, you can't judge a book by it's cover !!!

Slide the hood out to the "working" position.
Tape it in place.
