apersson850 Obviously it's a good thing More info | I don't consider the different settings to be there just to always keep them the same. I use nearly everything the camera can offer, depending upon what I'm doing. Anders

Servo focus is better because it will handle the situation where the subject isn't at the same range all the time. Just to answer/comment on one of the issues mentioned above. Yeah, but even with AF Servo, you can easily tell when the subject, particularly a static object, comes into focus by just using your eye. Unless you find a light and a sound as necessary confirmation, servo is just as effective. "That building in the background is distracting."

Custom f 4-3, ai servo, manual, If I need to take a picture of something static, i just focus nd shoot away. thats the beauty of using this in sports.lets say a free throw you focus on it and action shots all at the same time without moving to single shot. you don't really need the sound confirming focus, you actually know when you are focused because you don't hear the camera focusing anymore. Calzinger wrote in post #5156054 I, also, always shoot AI Servo, regardless of what I'm shooting. I don't understand how it's any less effective than One Shot AF even for static objects if not more accurate. For one thing, you can't use the autofocus assist light on a flash in AI Servo mode. Funny thing, I was just thinking that last night as I was preparing my flash for my shoot at the autoshow today. "That building in the background is distracting."
