The 40D body price has just dropped in the UK and I'm now on the hunt, so I was looking around the net for shop opinions and came across this..

http://forums.dpreview.com …19&thread=27221543&page=1 (external link)

Something not right with Canons latest pricing policy, the current good deals on the 40D body with cash back put it below the rrp of the yet to be released 450D. It makes me wonder if stock is being cleared for an upgrade earlier than planned.

&

Seems like Canon is desperately trying to offload the 40D, which makes me think that a Mk II is on the way.

So what do you guy think, maybe I shoulda stuck this in the Even less likely to happen than the normal Rumours section..

Over here they recently dropped the prices on the 400D and the 40D.

I was expecting the 400D drop - clearing stock for the 450D - but the 40D drop took me be surprise. As one of the few 40D users who had problems with the 40D, I really won't be surprised if they roll out a quick MK2 version. I'll be annoyed, but not surprised :)

Yeah, prices are crazy now. I did think a replacement maybe but seems way too soon!! Maybe Nikon nipping at their heels too agressively now, or perhaps a 5D mk II is around the corner at the sub-£1000 point.

Is that similar to being demoted around here?

The price drop part is hardly a rumour, I guess people saying because a MKII is coming is more of a joke than a rumour but oh well..

Wow, that would make it cheaper after rebate in the UK than in the US. That's unheard of! Time to buy a plane ticket to London and pick one up. Just kidding--it's not THAT cheap :D

I got my 40D from jessops last friday, they price matched calumet to £700. After cashback that makes £600.

After seeing this thread i headed down to jessops who price matched the new calumet price of £600 giving me a £100 refund.

This means after cashback I got the 40D for £500 which is awesome :)

About time you guys across the pond got a break, now if you could only get rid of the VAT tax, then you guys would be set.

Don't flame me for this but, Jessops in Hedge End tell me the aggressive pricing is because the D300, even though it's nearly double the price, is outselling the 40D.
At least in the south anyway.
Good news for people who want a 40D.

Interesting that Jessops still price match. I thought they stopped doing that years ago?

They're still price matching, but only with bricks and mortar stores within a set radius.

When I asked the dude in Jessops why there was a price drop he just said that Canon had dropped the price and shrugged
