Good thread. Have been reading a lot on SEO lately - doing my best to gradually improve my site.

Anyone that wants to take a look at it and offer advice - feel free. :)

I would add your town in the title element (tag). Also I see you are using Flash, so I'm sure that you already know that Google doesn't "like" Flash. Add some "meat"....text! :D

very thorough articles. But you need unique Title and Meta Tags for each web page. I have some one said Google will punish on multiple Title or meta Tags, but to me, when you are creating unique title or meta tags for each page, you are making multiple search engine entry points to your site. Always remember search engine rank individual web pages but not sites.

@Juanmraz, Google sitemap or a sitemap is an XML documents (special web database mark up language) that stores your web pages hierarchy infrastructure.

A typical XML sitemap looks like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<urlset
xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9
http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9/sitemap.xsd">
<!-- created with Free Online Sitemap Generator www.xml-sitemaps.com -->

<url>
<loc>http://www.7dollarsclub.com/</loc>
<priority>1.00</priority>
<changefreq>daily</changefreq>
</url>
<url>
<loc>http://www.7dollarsclub.com/index.php?action=order</loc>
<priority>0.80</priority>
<changefreq>daily</changefreq>
</url>
</urlset>

Which tells the search engines on how your site is represented so that they will gather more data about your inner pages.
It is typically for larger e-commerce or CMS based sites. If there are only 5 pages in your website, then I don't think you need to
create one.

opes that help

I still can't figure out why I can't find my site. I went thru 30 pages of google. He'll this thread is on page 3! Walmart even starts to show up as well. Not sure why. Also what irritates me is of the 3 words, after you get so far it will drop one of the words searched and STILL no me! I have found it by adding 2 more words but no one would ever search it like that. I have done all that is been said here even the site map. Now I'm not expecting first page but not burried 50 pages deep in irrelivant searches.

Joliet wedding photographer. Is the search phrase. My site is in sig. Any more suggestions???

how many reputable sites are linking to yours with those keywords? Also look at how google has you indexed, it shows you what you should start working on. http://www.google.com …ionsphoto.com&btnG=Search (external link)

Not sure if this was said earlier, but I saw somebody make a comment about flash so I thought I would share. I went to a design conference earlier this month and they were talking about how Google has now changed their algorithms and Adobe actually hooked them up with a bad*** new algorithm that actually allows Google to read and index flash much MUCH better! It's pretty tight and now that they have the base algorithm the hope and hype is that it's going to get better fairly quickly so flash sites are no longer as SEO unfriendly. Just wanted to throw my $.02 out there. :D Great thread!

ok so your main problem is inbound links from higher ranking sites. Not facebook or forums....

As this has already been mentioned I think.. Your site has hardly any content, and what IS there is in the form of an image. You need more content.. aka TEXT so G has something to index.

How do you add it to the map?

I also signed up for Analytics, not sure what it does though. Good thread if I could unclog my brain and use the info properly.

A huge help with google is to add your business to Google Maps - you have to sign up, but it's free - Then you can submit all your business details.
So if "Miami Photographer" is how you want to be found, then Google maps is the way to do it.
It's also a handy way to check out your competitors ;)

Also, if we all review each others entries, that will up your rankings :D

Sign up for webmaster tools. I think its an option in there.

Otherwise look up "Local Business Center".

this is all so frustrating lol... i have seen sites that are bare and unfinished with no content and are not updated for 3-4 years that are on 1st page, complete hack of a site.

Is there a tool that will tell me what number placement i am for a given set of 3 kewwords?
i have "joliet wedding photographer ALL over my key words and site title and in some text. I just cant find my site looking thru 30-50 pages.... then ADD kicks in.

how do i go about getting my link onto other big sites?

my partners site is top 3 and she knows nothing about seo and site building... joomla home done, BUT she has in the past put her links on other wedding "ad" sites so that must be most of what places you.

Are you set up with google for analytics and their webmaster tools? The webmaster tools tells you what pages of yours are idexed and linked to. After some time, it also tells you what ranking your sites come up as in searches.

Also, have you signed up for the Local Business Center (external link)?

I show up first thing (on the google map) for my town's photography search because of the local business center. Also, a blogspot.com blog is indexed favorably in google (they own it) as well. My blog is on the first page for some of the concerts I've shot. It would be worth it to star one, if you don't have one.
