I'd like to know how many pix everyone has taken with their G-series camera?

I Just got mine....so not many yet.

I own an old Kodak DC 260 1.6MP and took over 3000 with it.

I've had my G3 since September 2003 and I have taken 10,132 pictures with it or about 780 photos a month. 8) I'll probably hit 20,000 by this time next year if I am still using my G3.

Hey Pradeep

You've got some great shots! You should get your own site going to do them and you justice.

I was really impressed with this shot:

Is there a counter which continuously counts the total shots taken and if so how do you view it? I know mine resets each time I remove the CF card.

I'm only up to about 9000 shots with my (now retired) G3.

If you set your "file number reset" to OFF, your camera will keep its count of pictures even if you remove the CF card. If you want to know if there is some other master counter that you can use to see the total number of pictures since the camera was made, the answer is "no".

Thanks Sam. The "Serene Rake" photo you referenced above was one of my first "keepers" with my G3. I've always liked that photograph for the way the colors and the angles play, but also because of the way the leaves form characters in the picture. The little leaf edge on the bottom left is like a stage character looking up at some ominous warnings to what will happen to leaves if they are caught. The other two leaves are the killed and skinned versions of the small on the left bottom. Reminds me of how Western farmers sometimes kill coyotes and wolves and leave their skins on the fence post to ward off similar predators that get the idea of coming into their lands to hunt their flocks. If you look at the middle leaf especially, you see the shape of a "pelt" with the legs areas, head area, as you would if you killed an animal and mounted its skin. With the arrangement of the bottom left leaf (which was intentional, BTW), I tried to make it look like how it would look if a leaf was "shocked" upon discovering this horrific site. The shadow angles, which are now coming towards the little leaf that is "alive" impends doom for it as well. 8)

That was the idea I was going for when I took this picture, but few people actually get that, and just like the colors. Oh well. When I told people about the intent of this photo - which was to serve as a warning to all leaves that want to enter my domain, they thought I was nuts, so I then "reinterpreted" it for some and renamed it "Serene Rake", which is what most people tend to see in it. The rake is serene after a hard days work and it has testaments to its efforts strung up on it. That works as well.

Don't you love photography?

I checked out your site. It is creative and inviting. I have been too busy/lazy to put up my own site, but I may in the future. Right now, my little corner of the photo.net world serves me well since I get a large audience for my work and also get plenty of feedback that is both critical and useful. Some of my top photos have gotten over 25,000 viewings, which is more than I would if I had my own little website. Of those viewings, I tend to get at least 40-50 personal emails of people discussing photography with me. Of that 40-50 people viewing my work there and emailing me personally, I make 2-3 friends. I've found using photo.net is better for me to improve my photography.

What do you think? What have been your experiences running your own photo website?

I've had my G6 for about 5 weeks, and I'm up to almost 2700 images.

I have this theory that if I can wear it out before the warranty period expires, Canon are obligated to give me a new G6 and I can do it all over, again. :D

Now THIS made me chuckle.

Hehehehe.

Actually, with the cold Canadian winter soon here, the G6 will not be used as much. I don't really feel like taking it out in sub-zero temperatures; I'll take one of my A2 bodies, 28-105mm zoom (or whatever) and some b/w film.

Cheers.

Good stuff.

Have you had the need to repair/replace the wonky Command Dial underpinnings? They have a rather short life cycle, it seems........ :(

Bosamar,

I've had my G2 now since January 2003 and shot about 15,000 photos so far.

The only problem I have experienced so far is a number (< 10) of 'hot pixels' that show up especially in long term expositions.

Best regards,
Andy

PS: OK, there's another problem, but it's not the fault of the camera ... I noticed that out of these 15,000, there was a relatively small number of 'keepers' that I am absolutely happy with ... most likely due to lack of talent for photography on my side

some cameras, some lenses,
and still a lot of things to learn...
(so post processing examples on my images are welcome :D)

That's the beauty of digital - no build-up of negs and slides due to mistakes. :D

I've actually kept a higher percentage of files than I do for film. Maybe I'm now a better photographer? Why didn't they have digital cameras in the early 1980's? :)
