hi guys,
my 1d2n has just started putting black lines across images, like this (just a quick shot out the back of the venue while i was swearing, cursing and waiting for my boss to drop his mk2 off to me

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Byte size: ZERO | PHOTOBUCKET ERROR IMAGE

its only done 35500 frames, in a little over a year (its just out of warranty)
it failed at work last night when i was using a studio flash
at first i thought i had bumped my shutter speed and was having sync issues
how long is the average life of a 1d shutter ? - i though it was 100 or 500 thousand frames
but my boss confirmed that its a faulty shutter (he owns a bunch of high count d60 and 10d and has had probably 15 shutters replaced in the past 5 years)
had anybody in australia had a 1d shutter replaced and can give me a rough price ? - i know the d60/10d shutters are around $450AU - how about the 1d ?

heard others paid like $200 for a shutter replaced. then others said canon replaced them free of charge in the 1series when they had such a low count because they say they are rated for 200k

when everything opens back up after easter i will ring canon and ask them nicely to do it it under warranty even though its run out - just because its such a low count - worst they can do is say no
failing that i will have to just pay to get it fixed, i just dont like not being able to use it

Hi

I had that problem around 50,000 in my shutter. looks like the foam piece has fallen off. Took canon four weeks under warranty to fix it for me. I bought then a 1d mk1 and haven't used the 1d mk2n since then.

Just satisifed with the images I get off the 1d mk1 for sports.
