With all the controversy of the 1dmk3... I went ahead and got one. Fresh from Canon with serial 56xxxx date code OW0208. AF seems to be no problem, but too early to tell. What a camera! Build quality is amazing. I love the ergonomic of the grip. I can shoot using one hand with the 70-200 f/2.8 IS on it.

Took this with my 30D. Tried to replicate the shot from the box as much as possible.

As I recall, the problem with the AF on the MkIII was with moving targets.
Anyway congrats and glad the problem's been rectified.

Beautiful camera.

I hate to break it to you, but we all thought our EOS-1D Mark IIIs were fine for the first few shots.

Yours will most probably be just as problematic as the rest of ours - you just don't know it yet.

Just bringing some realism to the usual gushy fluffiness.

I know of a number from the very first batch which never exhibited a problem - but some later ones possibly did.

Perhaps being upside down has a detrimental effect on 1DMkIIIs!

I don't want to rain on your parade, but it appears that both the duck picture and the rabbit picture are OOF. The subjects in both pictures appear to be a bit soft, and the grass in front of the animals is in sharp focus - I don't know if this indicates a front focusing problem or operator error?

Anyway, congrats on the camera.
