Moving ZoomBrowser EX from C: to E:

I have the Canon PowerShot SD550 (awesome camera!) and as I take more and more pictures and upload them to ZoomBrowser EX, my computer gets slower and slower and my storage space gets smaller and smaller. I would like to move my ZoomBrowser EX from my C: drive to my E: drive (external hard drive) in order to speed up my computer, free up storage space, and to have my pics in a different location just in case my C: drive ever crashes. I already have my pics from Zoom Browser EX backed up in Kodak Easy Share Gallery, Adobe Photoshop 3.0, and in My Pictures on my C: and E: (my goal is to move my pic files from ZoomBrowser EX, Adobe, and My Pictures all to E: and to delete from C: to speed up my computer).

I recently did a similar move of my I-tunes Music Folder moving it from my C: to my E: drive and it dramatically increased the speed of my computer and freed up a ton of storage space. I only moved the I-tunes Music Folder but the rest of I-tunes remained in my program files on my C: drive. I found instruction on how to do this move from the Apple website, but I cannot find similar info on the Canon website to move my pics.

It doesn't matter to me if I move all of ZoomBrowser EX to my E: drive or only the picture files. It seems like it might be more simplistic to move only my picture files from Zoom Browser EX to my E: and to keep the rest of it in my program files on my C: as I did with I-tunes, but whatever makes the most sense and is the safest.

I did recently copy ZoomBrowser EX from my C: drive by going to Start--All Programs--Canon Utilities--ZoomBrowser EX--ZoomBrowser EX and pasting it in my E: drive. However, I tested deleting a few pics from ZoomBrowser EX going through the C: drive and it also deleted the same pictures from the copied version in my E: drive.

My goal is to free up space on my C: drive by moving the pics to my E: drive (which is always plugged in anyways) and for Windows to recogonize the new location automatically when I upload pics in the future (as opposed to uploading them into C: again).

Thank you for any input you might have.

Understand the difference between data files and program files; i.e. your pictures are data files; and so it is the same for anything you added into the folders after your installation of the program pretty much.
Deal with your data files first organizing them into a protected area where if on proram removal and all folders for that program are removed then the data files will not be deleted.
Simply go to control panel, add/remove programs and remove the canon software.
Once the program is off the [C:\] drive simply reinstall it using the custom install option and choose your E: drive for program installation to the folder you desire or created on drive E:

A word of caution:
I have read that Canon software does not work properly if it is installed on a drive different than C:

I think it may be the truth, as Canon software barely understands Windows :(.

You can change the preferences within Zoombrowser or Camerawindow to make a folder in your E: drive the default for your images; that works fine.

You can also move your other image folders to a drive different than C:

I would advise you to leave Zoombrowser running from your C: drive at least until you find somebody running it successfully from a drive different than the boot drive.

Right good advice Rpolitsr, I concurr with that solution as a path of least resistance.
Installing EX to other than the default setup may require (but I kinda doubt it) editing of configution files to set environmental pointers to the E drive.

rpolitsr, Thank you for your simple info. I will keep the ZoomBrowser program file on C:. It sounds as though, from what your saying, that if I change my preferences in ZoomBrowser so that E: is the default drive, all future uploads will go directly to E:. Then I should be able to delete the pic files from C: at that point without them automatically deleting from E:, as well. Thanks again for help. I will let you know if I have any issues.

Right - Canon's software doesn't like to live anywhere but drive C:. Your photos, however, can go anywhere (and everywhere; you can store different files on different drives if you want).
