Windows Explorer won't show thumbnail pictures of G9 raw files. It does fine for my 20d. I imagine it's just because the G9 is newer and Microsoft hasn't caught up.
Does anyone have any info as to a fix or when a fix might come?
Thanks.

XP SP2 natively doesn't support it but you can try to install the Windows Imaging Component (WIC) update and then the Canon RAW Codec and you may get support for it but I'm not sure if Explorer is a WIC enabled application under XP yet. MS also had a power tools plug in that provided previews of some older RAW formats but it's an unsupported plug in and isn't being upgraded. Vista out of the box should support it as long as you still install the Canon RAW Codec. WIC is built into Vista. I'm running XP Professional. Your explanation make sense to me. I already had WIC & the RAW codec installed. Explorer only shows RAW picture thumbnails of my 20d, not my G9. Doug Sturgess

With a quick right click it'll open your file in PS or whatever you use. Seamless. Oh, and it's free https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1203740

I just suggested what I think is a better alternative to Explorer. Now he can choose his best solution https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1203740
