I bought a canon ixus 860 and I can't use the canon CDSDK7.3 to make it work. The software compiled from the SDK pops a message box "ErrorCode=0x0A000080". who can tell me the reason? or which sdk can drive this ixus 860?

Er? The SDK? As in, you're developing software for it? That's probably beyond most people here, so lack of response isn't surprising. Are you sure that Ver. 7.3 of the SDK supports that model? Sounds like it might not.

Wish I could help you, but I don't use sdk to drive my cameras. I use my eyes, hands and especially the forefinger of my right hand. Works good for me. ;)

Sorry, but I can't find the model supported by the Canon SDK, and Canon has decided to stop supporting Compact like IXUS and PowerShot and only support DSLR in the future

Dear Developer,

You are receiving this email as a member of the Canon Digital Imaging Developer Programme (http://www.didp.canon-europa.com (external link)).

Important Announcement:

As you may be aware, we released a new Software Development Kit earlier in the year, supporting the PowerShot G9 and PowerShot SX100 IS. This version did not support Windows Vista and unfortunately we have NO plan to launch an SDK for PowerShot digital cameras supporting this operating systems (the latest version 1.1.0d supports Windows XP and older OS only).

We are also very sorry to inform you that Canon will stop developing the PowerShot SDK and plan to phase it out this year. We appreciate that this may have an affect on your business, and we are sorry that we are no longer able to support this activity.

We would like to thank all developers who have supported PowerShot digital cameras within their application, and wish you every success in your future business.

Summary

- SDK v1.1.0d supporting PowerShot G9 and PowerShot SX100 IS is available to download now.
- No Vista support is planned for the PowerShot SDK
- Development of the PowerShot (PS-Rec) SDK will stop this year
- The Digital EOS SDK (EDSDK) will continue to be developed and supported (including Vista support)

For further information, please refer to the attached FAQs.

Best regards,

Canon DIDP Team

Note
If you have selected not to receive email updates from DIDP you will not receive any other updates in the future unless they are an important announcement regarding the future availability of the SDK and developer programme.

HI

I'm still able to use the software build with the last Powershot SDK on the windows vista, by marking it as Windows XP SP2 compatible.

Hope this helps.

PS - Canon could release the discontinued SDK source so we could make it compatible with vista and later OS. Please don't tell me that the Powershot users are a minority.

Best regards,

RC
