This is my first post in this topic "People" because I want to know how you respond to the subject line. I like to take photos, but my family thinks I am a geek because I have a big camera and flash. No problem with my daughter's little Canon SD400 held at arm's length, but when I shoot with my 40D and 580, WHOA!--the dude is a geek--get outa here--put that away! Then I get others who assume that I should provide them with great photos, and when I do attempt to, I get critisized for their eyes closed or no smile or the wrong color sweater. My kids and wife are starting to say I'm wierd (hey-I just bought a used metal detector and I am a ham radio operator with a 100 foot tower!)--but when I point the camera at them--I'm weird! Then they wonder why we have no family photos. So what do I say? What do I do? How do I become "cool" at the high school bonfires? My son is an athlete and my daughter is into horses--but they don't want their photos taken and shown--(here's on of my son at regionals) I am lost! Rudy

Well I don't think anyone here will think you're a geek for holding up your camera and enjoying a great hobby. And to be honest, geeks are the new cool :)

comments about the photo, it's quite under-exposed but beyond the technical aspects, you got a great shot of him in action :)
