Dragonflies - still more

I'm still shooting dragonflies. No crops or stacking on these. He let me get closer and closer until I was at the limit of focus. They seem to be suffering when resized, because the eye detail in the originals is very clear.

Canon 180mm 1/60 s at F 18.00 with ISO 160 + MR-14 Ring Lite from a tripod.

Never have understood dragonflies- sometimes you can't get near them, other times you can stick a lens right up their nose.
Sometimes worth doing a 100% crop to show eye detail that goes missing on re-sizing. ie crop the shot so you don't need to re-size for the web.

Thanks Brian, took your advice and did a crop of the last one. I don't pixel peep but I think my 180 might be ok at 100%

I think they must be attracted to that hunk of L lens because I hardly see any DF's over my way

Thanks Andrew. I was out a t my parents for BBQ today, they have a big dam, so there was plenty of DF's about.

Super series Greg - definitely have the hang of that 180 I saw 5 or so DFs today @ the local creek, all but one were flying Large ones as well, probably with a wingspan of like 90mm or so at a guess.
